Gregory Privat - Night & Day - CD

Grégory Privat's music is very cinematic. I was undoubtedly struck by Tales of Cyparis. His concerts are never half-hearted... or monochrome, yet very nuanced. He transports, stirs, and leaves a mark. Few musicians give and involve as much, leaving an unforgettable memory of a moment of grace.

For this opus, Grégory arrived unprepared to play the game of total improvisation, letting himself be carried away by the inspiration of the moment. As soon as he put down his suitcase, he dared to record three pieces that evening on my upright Steinway piano (the piano on which he had played his very first solo set here in a private concert a few years earlier), untuned, it was not planned, prepared on the fly by Julien Bassères and himself: the NIGHT.

The following day, he conversed with the Steinway B. The result is astonishing, the movement is magnificent, the story poetic, captivating, it is the DAY.

The contrast between NIGHT and DAY is deeply felt and sublime: the strong feeling of entering, for a moment, into Grégory's intimacy, and into that of these two unique instruments.

Listening to it, you will feel as if you were there, and still are.
