Gregory Privat - Night & Day - CD

Grégory Privat's music is very cinematic. I was undoubtedly influenced by Tales of Cyparis. The concerts he gives are never half-hearted... or half-hearted, yet very nuanced. He transports, upsets, and leaves a lasting impression. Few musicians give and carry away so much, leaving a memory of an unforgettable moment of grace.

For this opus, Gregory arrived without any preparation to play the game of total improvisation, letting himself be carried away by the inspiration of the moment. He chose, as soon as he put his suitcase down, dared to record three pieces in the evening on my upright Steinway piano (piano on which he had played his very first solo set here in a private concert a few years before), not tuned, it was not planned, prepared on the spot by Julien Bassères and himself: the NIGHT.

The next day, he conversed with the Steinway B. The result is astonishing, the movement is magnificent, the story poetic, captivating, it is the DAY.

The contrast between NIGHT and DAY is felt and sublime: the very strong feeling of entering for a moment into the intimacy of Grégory, and into that of these two singular instruments.

When you listen to it, you will have the feeling of having been there, and of still being there.
